IT Support Consultants

Services

The OIT IT Support Consultant (ITSC) teams provide ongoing support to most Brown academic and administrative departments for the use of technology, including computers, mobile devices, printers, Brown IT services, and audiovisual equipment, in department-managed spaces.

Although ITSC teams support most departments, Departmental Computing Coordinators (DCC) support the School of Engineering, the Department of Computer Science, and the Institute for Computational and Experimental Research in Mathematics (ICERM).

ITSC Hours

IT Support Consultants operate during Brown's regular business hours.

How to Request Service

Customers should contact their ITSC individual or team to report problems with services, hardware, and software.

  1. For all computing issues (configuration changes, software installation, new computer set-up, etc.), please contact your assigned ITSC or ITSC team directly. Your ITSC can help you remotely or will schedule an appointment with you at a mutually convenient time.
  2. If your ITSC is unavailable, please contact the Service Center at (401) 863-4357.

ITSC-supported departments are always welcome to call the IT Service Center at FORMAT (401) 863-4357 for brief questions regarding common applications and services (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Zoom, etc.).

ITSC Response Process

Once you have requested help, please keep in mind the following:

  • Responses are provided during normal business hours.
  • We may be able to help remotely for many routine support needs.
  • Devices must be on-site for ITSC to provide hands-on support.
  • All customers are encouraged to visit and subscribe to the OIT Service Statuspage for information about IT service outages.
