Job Scam: Student Research Assistantship

Phish Bowl Alerts

Please be aware of a recent phishing attempt targeting students with a fake job offer that impersonates a Brown University professor. This scam promises remote work and weekly payment, but it is NOT legitimate. Note the red flags: the email originates from a generic Gmail address, not a Brown University email, and the reply-to address is another Gmail account, which is unprofessional and not typical of university correspondence. Moreover, the message requests personal information via email and promise fully remote work and a too-good-to-be-true weekly stipend of $500. If you receive this or a similar email, do not respond and report it to OIT.
