Google Doc Share Scams

Phish Bowl Alerts

We’ve seen a spike in phishing attempts using Google Doc share notifications with subject lines like Document shared with you: "ESSENTIAL DEPARTMENT INTERVIEW.docx" or "Total Compensation Statement For Brown University Members.docx." These emails often contain a shared Word document that redirects to a Google Form impersonating Brown’s login page - designed to steal your credentials. Always scrutinize who the sender is. If the document is shared by someone outside of Brown, be immediately suspicious. Even if the sender appears to be from Brown, look carefully and remain skeptical - phishers often spoof or compromise accounts to make the scam seem legitimate.
