Phish Bowl Alerts
Be aware of a fraudulent email posing as a "BrownAlert" from a non-Brown email domain. The message contains several red flags - it originates from a spoofed Virginia.edu address, utilizes inconsistent branding, has unusual grammar, and contains formatting errors. The call to action, "Release these messages," is a common phishing tactic designed to provoke an immediate reaction. Remember, always verify that official communication has either come directly from Brown or via a service affiliated with Brown, that it features consistent formatting, and is free from obvious grammatical errors. Always verify suspicious emails before taking any action and report them to phishbowl@brown.edu.
