Some members of the Brown community reported receiving the following notice from the Waltham-based marketing company, Aberdeen, referencing the California Consumer Protection Act (CCPA). Both Aberdeen, which collects and analyzes data on buyer behavior, and the CCPA are legitimate. If you received this notification and do not wish to be included in Aberdeen's database, use the opt-out link found near the end of the email.
This is to advise you, under the terms of the California Consumer Protection Act (CCPA), that we have collected your name, business affiliation, job title, and contact details (which may include email) and have added you to the Aberdeen database. It has been collected because you are engaged with a business or organization that buys or uses technology. The data will be kept secure and accurate and only shared with or leased to business-to-business technology marketers.
The database enables technology marketers to accurately communicate with customers and prospects about products and services which are of interest to them.
You also have the following rights:
- Right to request the specific personal information we hold about you.
- Right to opt-out of the sale or sharing of personal information.
- Right of deletion on request (subject to certain exceptions).
